9th Jivamukti Yoga Karma Retreat with Yogeswari and Cat Alip-Douglas
We will be staying at Angkor Village Resort, a hotel situated in a large botanical garden. Individual bungalows are lining a swimming pool of several hundred meters, meandering through the park in form of a snake. Yoga classes are held in a conference room, built in traditional South East Asian style, surrounded by tropical flowers and trees.
With a few exceptions, classes are held in the mornings and last three hours. All levels are welcome. Massages and other types of treatments and activities are available at the hotel.
It combines intensive Jivamukti Yoga workshops with visits to Angkor Wat and cultural exchanges with young Cambodian Yoga practitioners, who are beneficiaries of AZAHAR Foundation in Cambodia.
Siem Reap, the second largest city of Cambodia, is adjacent to the ruins of Angkor Wat, one of the most spectacular temple cities of the Hindu and Buddhist world, built by several generations of Khmer kings between the 8th and 12th centuries. Angkor Wat has been declared by the UNESCO a World Heritage Site, and its iconography brings Yogic and Buddhist teachings and mythology to life, which is particularly interesting for Yoga practitioners.
Yogeswari, based at the Jivamukti Yoga School in New York City, is one of the most senior teachers of the Jivamukti Yoga Method. She is Advanced Certified, a Facilitator of Jivamukti Teacher Trainings, and has taken many Jivamukti Certified Teachers through their one-on-one 800-hour-certification. Yogeswari is known for her vigorous, seamless Vinyasa sequencing, and her thought-provoking philosophical teachings. She holds an MA in choreography and dance from New York University and a BFA McL in dance from Temple University, Philadelphia.
Cat Alip-Douglas, From the fashion floors of Condé Nast in New York to the wooden floors of Sangyé Yoga School - Jivamukti Affiliate London, cat had officially traded in her Manolo Blahniks for a more ‘grounded’ approach to life…in bare feet.
Cat hails from New York City and has been calling London home since spring 2004. She is privileged and blessed to have been involved with Jivamukti Yoga London since its inception in summer 2005 and furthermore as it continues its natural evolution into Sangyé Yoga School. She currently serves in the roles of Advanced Certified Teacher (Jivamukti), Senior Yoga Teacher (Yoga Alliance UK) and Co-Director alongside her husband Phil. It is with tremendous gratitude that she embraces the opportunities to indiscriminately apply the teachings to all aspects of this life and to do so for the benefit of all sentient beings.
